An electric fence energizer wholesale order should start with a customer application brief and a comparable specification sheet. Asking suppliers for their largest distance rating or lowest unit price leaves important differences unresolved. Distributors need to know what they are buying, which customers it suits and what information their sales and service teams will receive.
Start with the customers you plan to serve
Separate your expected demand into practical use cases: portable paddocks, permanent livestock fencing and locations without mains electricity. Record the animals involved, the proposed fence layout, available power and local conditions. A distributor supplying replacement equipment may also need to match customers’ existing accessories and installation practices.
Do not choose a range solely by acreage. Ask what each supplier’s distance claim describes: a single wire, a multiwire installation or a recommendation under stated conditions. Vegetation touching live wires can reduce fence voltage, so field conditions belong in the brief. Datamars explains this effect in its grounding and testing guide.
Compare the same specifications
An energy figure without a label is incomplete. Stored energy and output energy are different specifications; output joules describe the energy delivered in a pulse. Ask suppliers to identify which figure they quote and provide the corresponding documentation. Gallagher’s technical guide distinguishes these measures.
Use one comparison sheet with these fields:
- Exact model and revision, with a photograph of the product label.
- Input supply and included power accessories.
- Stored or output energy, clearly identified.
- Output voltage and the conditions under which it was measured.
- Basis of the quoted fence distance.
- Controls, indicators and the functions described in the manual.
- Included accessories, unit weight and packaging.
- Available product documents and their model coverage.
A blank field is a question to resolve, not permission to copy a figure from a similar-looking model.
Decide what belongs in the opening order
A first assortment should reflect actual customer demand. It may need a portable option, a standard replacement model or an off-grid configuration; it does not automatically need every model a supplier lists.
Compare the commercial consequences as well. More variants mean more product information, packaging versions and service stock to manage. Ask for quantities by model and distinguish sample quantities from the planned opening order. Treat repeat-order forecasts as forecasts rather than purchase commitments.
Approve the sample against a written checklist
Before placing a bulk order, agree what the sample review will cover. Check the model label, supplied accessories, manual language, packaging and the controls described in the quotation. Where technical testing is needed, agree the method and responsible party in advance.
Keep a record of accepted changes. A sample approval should identify the configuration being approved so that a later substitution can be discussed against a clear reference.
Request a quotation that can be compared
Send each supplier the same brief: destination market, buyer type, intended application, models or required specifications, quantity by model, branding requirements and preferred delivery basis. Ask the quotation to separate the energizer, optional accessories, packaging changes and any additional services.
For CANEN enquiries, start with the current energizer range and submit your sourcing requirements. Include your market and expected quantities so the discussion can focus on an appropriate configuration.
Buyer questions
Is the highest joule figure the best choice for a wholesale range?
It is not enough to make that decision. First establish whether figures use the same measurement basis, then match the documented product capabilities to the intended application and customer demand.
What should I send if I do not know the model?
Send the application, power availability, fence layout, destination market and estimated quantity. If replacing a current product, include its model and specification sheet.
Should a sample price be used to calculate the bulk-order budget?
Request a separate bulk quotation with the intended quantity and scope. Sample handling, optional equipment and bulk packaging can differ.
